DOT Revises the Hours of Service Regulations

On April 24, 2003, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced the long anticipated changes to the hours of service regulations.  These regulations only apply to property carriers and drivers. Passenger carriers and drivers will continue operating under the existing rules while fatigue issues specific to the passenger carrier industry are assessed.

The new rules become effective on June 27, 2003 and compliance will be enforced on January 4, 2004.
